I'm came from a big family. During family celebrations, my cousins, my siblings and me would be included in the celebrations. We would have our own corner , sitting on mengkuang weaving mat where foods and drinks were served in smaller cups and plates. Spills are inevitable but since we have our own corner, the adults dont really make a fuss out of it.
Based on my experience, kids who feel included and entertained are more likely to be happy guests. When we take our kids out for lunch or dinner , restaurants who cater for kids would be our choice. My first encounter with a restaurant which provides bundle of crayons and paper for colouring was American Chilies.Instantly it welcomes children and encourage them to stay at their seat while waiting for the foods to be serve. More and more restaurant and eating joints caters for the small guest,IKEA and Marmalade are my other two favourite place to bring my kids because they have kids corner.
So, for our events and parties-lets have small tables and chairs for the mini guests, dress the tables with pint sized centre pieces, have a bowl of sweet treats, lollipop, a paper ship filled with jellybeans
- small ikea tables and stools/chairs,
- a large white "kertas mahjung"paper- which you can get in any saundry shop or
any art shop to cover the table,
or
- you can hop to Daiso and get those reasonably priced colourful plastic table covers-in pink, white, blue or even gingham
- Assorted colours Crayons or Colour pencils- you can check my earlier posting for personalised colour pencils, kids would be delighted to bring them home.
- Paper cups ,plates, plastic cutleries- you can this from party shops, party suppliers and IKEA (of course!)
- napkin rings
- Short vases or jam bottles
You will have relieved parents ....
Hugs...
